Track 05
"Did you build it with your hands or did you steal it from the ground?"

We have built an entire civilization around a single metric: how much. How much money did you make? How much is your house worth? How much did the company grow? But this metric is morally blind. It cannot distinguish between wealth created by building something that serves people and wealth extracted by destroying something that served people. The ledger of how asks the question that the ledger of how much refuses to ask: what did you actually do, and who did it serve?
This is the album's moral center — the song that states the thesis most plainly and most passionately. It is the sound of someone who has been patient for a long time and has finally decided to say the thing directly.
The most stripped-back production on the album — acoustic guitar, harmonica, voice. The simplicity is the point. The truth does not need production.
"If someone examined the ledger of how you made your money — not how much, but how — what would it say about who you are?"
